![]() a significant backtrack from the progress made in First Class.Įven the built-in fireworks of the two heavyweight casts meeting face-to-face doesn't really work as well as it should. ![]() It retains all of the unease-inspiring puns and goofball moments that I'd hoped the series could shed, making it feel dated and slightly pandering. Trask and his sentinels barely play a supporting role in the proceedings, giving them the impression of a patsy, and I'm still struggling to comprehend Magneto's decision-making in the third act. The story had a lot of potential, especially in the unusual settings of both timelines, but it somewhat predictably gets tangled in the tripwires often associated with a time travel flick and spends far too much time delivering fan service when it should've been examining character motivations and further world-building. I'm somewhat ashamed to admit I thought it was a rather large mess. Wolverine gallops through time and space to deflect an ugly outcome for all of humanity, pausing frequently to give old cast members the time to wink directly into the camera and strut off set. When Logan doesn't set off the metal detector.Logan (to Eric): "Wanna pick all that shit up?".There where also lot's of good lines and scenes, e.g.: He's like Thanos: Too powerful and too naive. Eric is still quite annoying at times. The overall story gets fragmented / torn apart / inconsistent / too complicated /etc.Charles Xavier has lots of cool monologues/moments.A lot of cool characters get to live and are happier (Jean, Scott, Rogue, etc.).Especially the scene when they escaped from the Pentagon was so incredibly good! Wether he just flashes around or we see his perspective were it looks like he slows down time. The scenes where he's super fast are so cool. Quicksilver: He has a really cool power and is an awesome character in general. The CGI in the intro (opening credits) got much better :D.If it's possible to change the past then why should anything be meaningful? This variant was at least a bit better than normal time traveling but it still ruined the story for me. However, I did not like the "time travel" part. Should I just pretend First Class and Days of Future Past are in their own universe from the rest of the films which were already inconsistent anyway and that they're the only things canon now?ħ.5/10 - It had a lot of action, cool moments, and some fun. Why does Wolverine have adamantium claws after Wolverine? Why is Kitty Pryde able to do time travel stuff at all? ![]() How does Magneto have his powers after The Last Stand? ![]() Why is Xavier even alive after The Last Stand? Why has Trask not continued his sentinel program anyway? Why does Wolverine "wake up" in his present day body? "Who" has been acting out whatever Wolverine has been up to in the present timeline? Has he somehow not been conscious this whole time? I'm, errr, not entirely sure I understand all of the ending and time travel stuff, especially because they seemed to have just outright ignored what happened in past movies in the series. The Quicksilver scene in particular was fantastic. X-Men: Days of Future Past was pretty damn great and by far the best X-Men movie to date. ![]()
